As someone who has spent her life writing stories to spark a love of reading, I was deeply moved by the vision behind Activities Beyond the Classroom (ABC) / KidFuture CPS’s proposal. Their commitment to advancing third grade literacy and expanding access to books for children across Cincinnati Public Schools reflects a powerful understanding of what young readers need to thrive. I was especially inspired by their focus on putting books into children’s hands to own, because when a child has a book of their own, reading becomes personal, joyful, and full of possibility. I’m grateful to support their work in helping children grow into confident, curious readers.
